I went to school at Bromsgrove and was in Lyttleton House named after Humphs dad. After I discovered Humph at the Conway in 1956 Inever looked back. Saw him at Leicester with his band and Sidney Bechet. Saw him again a few years ago at Harrogate and got his autograph. He was a great influence and an even greater man. His Mainstream phase is my favourite music.Rest well mate. TIM

Thanks Humph for all the jokes, innuendos (some of which take me longer than the audience to work out), geographical reports on the towns you visit, and of course, the music. What a great life you have had! Samantha and Mrs Trellis will miss you... if they ever existed ==davidnc

Oh Humph, I've spent so many hours with aching ribs with your outrageously rude jokes. So sad thats its over. Thankyou for giving so much joy. All the best with your new audience, they're in for a treat.

My heartfelt condolences to the Lyttelton family and his many friends and colleagues. Humph, you'll never know the joy and laughter you released into long days, life is a little emptier now.

Thank you for everything, your music and your humour. You never failed to put a smile on my face. I'll miss you but I'll never fail to celebrate your life. rob

Jazz apart what a marvelous talent to have created Rufus, Flook and the immortal Bodger! End of a splendid man.

The old 78s are treasured. The evenings at the 100 Club in the late 1950s as a teenager remain as totemic in my devotion to live and innovative music. The BBC's overseas broadcasting of ISIHAC kept me in stitches in sterile Singapore for years. Thank you - and when and where can we pay our respects at a memorial concert?

Monday nights driving home will never be the same again. You made me laugh, dangerously while driving! Thank you

I thought he'd always be there. I'll be sad if there's not any more ISIHAC, but I know it wouldn't be the same without him. Mornington Crescent!
