Just listened to Chairman Humph - A tribute. Magnificent and moving. I'm still in tears. I'm only 28. What a silly sod.

I am a native born Yank, and still live in the colonies. (Well, actually in Colorado.) Though not a rate payer, Whenever BBC 4 or BBC 7 had ISIHAC on line, I'd hook my laptop and listen when getting ready for work. While I hope there is some way for the show to continue, Humph was a God send. The teams were wonderful, but Humph was the heart of the show. With all these people running around who claim they channel souls from beyond, usually they are in contact with great spirits. (Probably a number of those who "channel the dead have been touching the spirits as well.) The only spirit I can think of that would be worthy of being channeled is Humph. Of course he would refuse to cooperate, but I'm sure aftger being stuck with nothing but harp music to listen to, he'd change his mind.

Humph's talents were truly eclectic: jazz trumpeter, music journalist, cartoonist, comedy performer and panel game chairman. There was no one like him and there will never be anyone like him. He was an irreplacable national treasure and he will be very much missed

We have a Humph shaped hole in our house - all generations loved and miss him - my work days will be the poorer without new Clue and the ironing will never be as fun again

I got through 2 years in the hospital by listening to BBC Radio online and the most enjoyable program was ISIHAC . Will miss Humph , dont think there will be anybody else like him for a long time. He was truly unique and will be forever in the hearts and minds of his faithful listeners. Thank you Humph !

He was wonderful. His humour was so cheeky and fun, with an innocence that was beguiling! I am so very happy to have had the pleasure of listening to him and consider myself all the richer for this. I already miss him, just like the loss of a close friend! I believe in a heaven and I cannot imagine that any God worth knowing would not want the likes of Humphrey to be his companion.

I first heard Clue as a young boy, aged 8, listening on my grandfather's radio whilst he pottered in his shed. The spirit of Humph will now join my grandfather's as I potter in my shed, aged 36, listening to Clue. Farewell, sir, and thank you for the laughter and wonderful tunes.

You are not gone. My wife Anne and I play your records all the time. You inspired me to play the trumpet and record for Decca Records in the 1960's. You continue to be an inspiration for us. My favourite album will always be "Jazz at the Royal Festival Hall" with the best rendition of "Onions" and "When the Saints go marching in" we have ever heard. The last time we saw you and the band was in 2007 in Bognor. We will always have great memories of the Bull in Barnes. Thank you so much Anne and John Boulton www.attitudestraining.co.uk

Although I am not a big fan of jazz, I was a big fan of Humph. This came mainly from the radio show, "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue". Strangely enough, in view of my musical prefernces, I have come to enjoy some of his musical work. I, along with many, many more will miss this entertainer and from what I have learned of him, this man.
