Mr Littleton has given me so many hours of pleasure over the airwaves. However sad I felt, his wit, astounding delivery, warmth and compassion made me so happy. All my thoughts and heartfelt condolences to his family.

Elena Procopiu, 27/04/2008 12:47

Dear Freddie Grisewood I was sorry to hear you had died.

Mrs Trellis, 27/04/2008 12:44

Dear Humph, The education of my sense of humour started thanks to your broadcasting in my late teens - and I have listeend to you for too many years to recall. Thanks for helping me to get things in perspective when I was taking it all too seriously. Thanks also for introducing me to the greats of Jazz and your analysyis of music has stayed with me. So long - guess you'll be training the angels for the last Trump on Judgement Day.

Ian Holliday, 27/04/2008 12:41

The world of jazz music will never be the same without Humph. His latest band was his best ever. I first saw him at The Conway in the mid fifties and I feel a bit devastated at the thought of him not being with us anymore.

Tony Thornton, 27/04/2008 12:41

[I'm sorry I haven't a clue] How did he get away with it? only he could, Brilliant! will be much missed. Thank you for all the laughter. John

John Harries, 27/04/2008 12:38

"Humph" brought so much joy, to so many people, for so long. May that others are inspired to do similarly. He will be very greatly missed.

Dominic Heaney, 27/04/2008 12:35

Humph probably made me laugh more than anyone else on Radio or T.V. I shall miss him.

Pat Mathewson, 27/04/2008 12:34

I just wanted to say thank you for being part of our lives for the past 36 years on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. It has btought pleasure to fans through thick and thin. Humph was master.

Des Taylor, 27/04/2008 12:27

Heather Barker, 27/04/2008 12:22

I don't think i've ever laughed so hard and forgot my troubles than when i listened to i'm sorry i havn't a clue. Thank you Humph for bringing silliness to my adult life. Will be sorely missed from the airwaves.

Such sad news - we were present at the gig at the Concorde Club at Eastleigh on Wed. 9th April and marvelled at how well Humph was looking and could still deliver on the trumpet. A great evening and feel really priviledged to have been there. Joan recalls seeing Humph at the Royal Albert Hall when she in her teens in the 60s when he played along side Sidney Bechet and has always enjoyed jazz ever since. Our deepest sympathy to all his family and friends.

JOAN & PETER CLEMENTS, 27/04/2008 12:04

Will be sadly missed, what a life, what a man. Your music is forever, what a gift you have left. Take care in that big band in the sky my friend.

Darren Humphries, 27/04/2008 12:01

Thanks for making us laugh so much over the years. We will miss you.

M Clements, 27/04/2008 12:01

It is with huge sadness that I heard this week's news. Humph lit up Sunday lunchtimes with ISIHAC, leaving both my wife and I convulsing with laughter. You will be sadly missed, but rightly celebrated for giving so much happiness to the world. As the funeral march is played, it is my sincere hope that in the background Jeremy Hardy will be tunelessly singing the words to My Old Man's A Dustman. R.I.P. Humph

Andy Powell, 27/04/2008 11:57

We'll all miss Humph - he was a giant, not only in the Jazz world, but as a brilliant presenter. His wonderful voice was a joy to listen to, and his skill at presenting ISIHAC will never be replaced.

Ron Bird, 27/04/2008 11:57

Humph - a truly funny man with great wit and timing - his Lionel Blair links will always be one of the funniest thing I have ever heard anywhere! I've listened to ISIHAC for as long as I can remember (i'm 29 so quite a while!) and Humph will be sorely missed by everyone who loved a bit of silliness in their life - May he rest in peace or better terrorize the angels with his talent for innuendo!

Simon Ayto, 27/04/2008 11:51

Someone so wonderfully charming, so witty and yet silly. Silliness being something which, in today's world, we are starting to lose. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts to all who knew him personally as relative, friend and/or colleague. Rest well.
