As a friend of tradtitional jazz, I always valued Sir Humphrey Lyttelton since his early years as perhaps Europe's most important jazz musician in making his music available to jazz friends in many different countries. He was a true gentleman, and he will be missed. Hael Mughrabi

A hero, a joy to the world - Sundays shall never be the same again. May he rest in peace yet make a happy noise as well.

Humphrey Littleton entertained me from my earlyiest days of jazz appreciation - some fifty years ago - and he continues to do so today. Thank you for all this pleasure.

Listening to Humph on I'm sorry I haven't a clue was the highlight of my radio listening week and I shall miss him greatly.

When Humph died it felt like a favourite Uncle had passed away...will miss his voice..like that of Alistair Cooke..it was immediately recognisable and somehow comfortable..you knew that all was right with the world..at least for half an hour..even if it wasn't.. He can't be replaced..a unique individual..sorely sorely missed..mention of him brings a smile to the face and a a hole in the heart. Goodnight Humph x

Hearing Humphrey Lyttleton on ISIHAC was always a highlight of my week. I was only really beginning to appreciate him, his wit, and his music.

I met Humph twice as a lowly punter, first in 1997 at a free gig in the Barbican, then a couple of years later at the Concord Club. He was charming and seemed to have all the time in the world to speak to a young jazz fan but I shall miss him most on Monday evenings driving home where I have feared for my ability to drive with those streams of tears and uncontrollable laughter. He was unique, generous and copiously gifted in so many ways, how lucky we all were to hear him.

So many, many laughs. Miss you.

One of the most distinctive voices of Radio. Could any one radio programme ever make me laugh as much again. I doubt it!

Without a doubt one of the funniest men I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. His intelligent 'silliness' gave me years of pleasure. His passing marks the end of an era and he will be sadly missed by millions.

I played many gigs with Humph and recorded several albums with him when I was leader of the Zenith Hot Stompers. He was always very friendly to us lesser mortals and never tried to lord it over us. We played a gig with him at Hagley Hall where he spent his early years. The gig was a farce in that after the first number at 00.10am.the hotel manager told us that there was no music licence after midnight.Quick as a flash Humph said,"Follow me lads" as he marched out of the door playing Show Me the Way to Go Home!! Lin and I still have the picture of Hagley Hall on which he wrote,"Lin.Just a shack but it was home to me." Thanks Humph for some great jazz and lots of fun. Alan and Lin Bradley.
