He was a true entertainer.

My dad always used to play Bad Penny Blues on the piano when we were kids and we'd all go nuts running around with the dogs. Loved Humph on the Radio, always listen to his records and he's the man that has cemented Jazz into my household.

Olly Caunt, 26/04/2008 13:34

Humph, - your voice shall be forever in my head - your music shall forever be in my heart - you yourself, kind sir, shall forever live on in my mind. You shall be dearly missed.

Andre Van Soest, 26/04/2008 13:32

The world is lesser place today with the loss of Hump. Through I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue I have shed endless tears of joy, and right now I am shedding ones of sadness. He will be missed by family, friends and those millions of fans of music and laughter he has treated over the years. I met him once at the Sony awards, and even to a complete stranger he was the nicest of people. Rest in Peace Hump, Thank you and Goodbye.

Paul Benwell, 26/04/2008 13:32

He was a very, very funny man, with a beautiful voice - what a combination!

Mary McKnight, 26/04/2008 13:31

My heart felt sorrow to the loved ones you leave behind, Humph. I've only just "discovered" your immeasurable talents, and already I feel a keen loss. Somehow, I don't think they're going to know quite what has hit them "upstairs" - but our loss is definitely their gain! Sleep well.

Matthew Osborne, 26/04/2008 13:30

Sadness and remembrance. The passing of fine wit and personality is rued.

Goodnight Humph. Thank you for all the good times.

Steve Stuart, 26/04/2008 13:27

Very sad day... What am I going to listen to now? Well... the fantastic records, and the re-runs of 'clue'. Thanks Humph, you gave me so much listening pleasure, in all sorts of ways.

Steve, 26/04/2008 13:26

I shall miss his fine humour and gifted musical talent, a man who had time for anybody who spoke to him; a fine human being, I can only offer deep condolences to his family.

Frank Dawes, 26/04/2008 13:26

Such a sad loss, a true comedy genius with the God given talent of making people laugh.

Dave Hayes, 26/04/2008 13:25

I never met him but felt I knew him well. What a wonderfully warm and humourous man. He will be very much missed. Deepest condolences to his family.

Anthony North, 26/04/2008 13:22

So long and thanks for all the laughs! We'll all miss you. Sleep well.

Giles Kendrick, 26/04/2008 13:21

I just Humph on top form with ISIHAC at the Hammersmith Apollo just three short weeks ago. What a talented and hilarious man. I'm so sorry he has gone. My heartfelt wishes to his loved ones

Ian Hawkings, 26/04/2008 13:20

I was saddened to hear of the passing of the radio legend we all knew as Humph. His chairmanship of I'm Sorry I haven't a Clue was unsurpassable. Monday evenings were more enjoyable when the programme filled the 6.30pm slot, even though the "run" was nowhere near long enough. Condolences to all his friends and family: he will be sorely missed by a wide range of Radio 4 listeners, young and old alike, a tribute to his appeal.

Lynda Bennett, 26/04/2008 13:20

Thanks Humph

Nick Bicat, 26/04/2008 13:19

How sad. Irreplaceable.

Annette Margolis, 26/04/2008 13:18

He was a very funny man.
